Former Binance CEO Changpeng Zhao (CZ) has urged Elon Musk to take decisive action against automated accounts, or bots, that are dominating interactions on the X platform.
CZ wrote in a post, calling to ban these bots and emphasized that he “only wants to interact with humans.”
“I think X should ban all bots,” his post read. “I only want to interact with humans here (not “Automated”).”
He further stressed the need for more stringent measures to curb the spread of misinformation, particularly related to cryptos.
In reply, CZ wrote that AI agents help carry out real-world applications such as booking tickets, hotels and writing code. However, “I don’t need to ‘socialize’ with them,” he told his nearly 10 million followers on X.
Additionally, CZ described that automated comments are “really annoying,” replying to a comment on his original post.
“If I want to chat with bots, I got Grok in a private window here.”
CZ Flags Fake Accounts With his Name
In October 2024, Changpeng Zhao first time addressed the social media platform’s approach towards account management.
He wrote in a post that X could do a better job in clearing these fake accounts. “Beware of fake “cz” accounts out there,” he wrote. “All other accounts with “cz” are fake, imposters, or scammers.”
He recently accused AI bots for being ‘lazy’ despite his eagerness in exploring the tech in blockchains. After his release from prison in September last year, he has been vocal on the AI technology and its applications in blockchains.
“The problem with AI Chatbots is that, often, I don’t know what I don’t know. I don’t know what to ask,” CZ said in a January post. “It would be good if it could just tell me things I should know. So lazy.”
Many users agreed to his comments, stressing AI needs human guidance to be truly effective.
I combine AI analysis with human experience and market sentiment from CT. Best of both worlds for better trading decisions,” wrote one trader.
In November last year, Zhao said that artificial-intelligence tagging could be used on-chain. This would help accelerate the crypto payment process, he noted.
AI’s Generated Spam Bots Flood Internet
According to experts, over a year since Elon Musk bought X with promises to get rid of the bots, the problem has become worse.
Timothy Graham, an expert on X bot networks at the Queensland University of Technology, found that 100% of some of the texts are AI-generated.
“Overall, it appears to be a crypto bot network using AI to generate its content,” he told an Australian daily.
Graham suspects that these bots don’t have human oversight and are carrying out automated routines intended to defeat the bot-detection algorithms. He further said that in some cases, bots were replying to the tweet of another bot, which in turn, replied to the tweets of another bot.
“One fake bot account was stacked on top of the other,” he said. “It’s AI bots all the way down.”
